BAL LEADERSHIP

ROB ZARKOS

Rob’s background includes work with Cobalt Sports Holdings and management of MLS NEXT platforms in Arizona, Texas, and Oklahoma, as described in the BAL leadership brief.

His professional soccer operations experience is documented by Real Salt Lake. In 2021, the club identified him as overseeing operations for Real Salt Lake, Real Monarchs, and its soccer and basketball academies. Later that year, Real Monarchs quoted him as Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations in its MLS NEXT Pro launch announcement.

For BAL, that experience informs a practical focus: coordinated league operations, consistent club standards, and a development structure families can understand.

Accountability by function

Proposed structure: league leadership owns standards and admissions; hub operations coordinates schedules and venues; competition administration verifies rosters and results; an independent reviewer handles eligible appeals. Rob Zarkos supports league leadership; Shular Smith serves as Director; Claire Whitfield and her staff support marketing; Scott Spencer handles event operations; Matt supports media. Dedicated safeguarding and independent appeals roles still require assignment.
