THE COMPETITION MODEL / DRAFT V1
ONE SEASON.
A PATH YOU CAN FOLLOW.
From club review to the final whistle: a proposed competition model built around meaningful regional games.
CLUB REVIEW→REGIONAL SEASON→QUALIFICATION→THE FINALS
Proposed for the inaugural cycleIndependent clubs and teams are welcome. Clubs retain their own identity and sign a BAL participation agreement; each team is reviewed and placed separately by age group and competitive level. Utah, North Carolina, Georgia, Dallas–Fort Worth, and Arkansas anchor operations. Divisions open only when enough suitable teams and venues are secured. All participating teams must meet BAL uniform-quality requirements and use approved Rocksolid headgear. View the uniform and headgear standard ↗
01APPLY AS A CLUB.
Bring your program’s coaching credentials, competitive record, player-development approach, and operating plan. Teams from outside the BAL organization follow the same admissions process. Name your preferred hub and the teams you want considered.
See the offer and review timeline ↗ 02PLACE EACH TEAM.
Initial placement uses the admissions review and available competition. Teams can enter Select or Elite; national opportunities develop as qualified participation grows. BA NEXT is the proposed 17U/19U pathway program, with selection considered separately from team tier placement.
Age-group participation is separate from competitive level. Core focus: boys 9U–13U and girls 13U–19U; other divisions depend on demand.
03BUILD A BODY OF WORK.
Plan for 24 regional league games over four months, across 10 competitive weekends. Typically 2–3 games per weekend. The proposed format is 5v5 non-contact flag football, with final playing rules set in the approved handbook.

Postseason qualification and the championship field will be finalized for the five-market launch before teams commit. A minimum 80% of scheduled league games must be completed. Smaller or unmatched divisions receive a published alternative before kickoff.
05COMPETE FOR THE TITLE.
Proposed final format: two semifinals, a championship match, and a placement match. Qualification is earned; the event entry allowance is $450 per team. Host hub, venue, exact dates, and final format remain to be approved.
06EARN THE NEXT PLACEMENT.
For divisions with at least six teams, the top two are nominated for promotion review and the bottom two for relegation review. Final placement also considers roster continuity, competitive balance, club standards, and available divisions. Proposed written decisions arrive within 15 business days of the season ending.
THE PROPOSED COMPETITION RULES
EVERY RESULT.
ONE SHARED METHOD.
STANDINGS3 / 1 / 0
Three points for a win, one for a draw, zero for a loss. Rank by points per game if teams complete unequal schedules, subject to the 80% minimum.
TIEBREAKERSA defined order.
Head-to-head points among tied teams, then point differential capped at +21/−21 per game, then fewest points conceded per game, then a supervised draw. Multi-team ties use a mini-table and reapply the sequence to remaining ties.
REVIEW & APPEALSA fair process.
Report score errors within 48 hours. Appeal a placement or eligibility decision within five business days. A reviewer uninvolved in the original decision targets a written response within ten business days.
Independent-team entry, league-wide uniform-quality requirements, and required Rocksolid headgear are confirmed BAL participation directions. The season format, eligibility, scoring, postseason, and appeals procedures remain proposals for approval before registration commitments.
PLAY AT YOUR AGE. COMPETE AT YOUR LEVEL.
THE RIGHT
COMPETITION FIRST.
Draft age policy: use the athlete’s age on January 1 of the season year. For spring 2027, 13U means age 13 or younger on January 1, 2027. Roster eligibility, playing up, and school-calendar conflicts are reviewed before team acceptance.
Protect the regular season.
- Regional play provides most matches.
- National travel is concentrated at the postseason.
- Publish the full calendar before club commitment.
- Open divisions only with credible competitive depth.
- Use standards review alongside on-field results.
